Acciari looking like he's out vs. Ducks, Bjork called back up

BRIGHTON, Mass – It looks like sitting out the NHL All-Star break wasn’t enough time for Bruins fourth liner Noel Acciari to heal up the lower body injury that forced him to miss last week’s win over the Ottawa Senators.

Acciari was again missing from Monday’s practice at Warrior Ice Arena, and will miss his second straight game against the Anaheim Ducks at home on Tuesday night.

MORE BRUINS - A relieved McAvoy back on the ice

“Noel is kind of fighting his way through a lower body [injury], so we kept him off,” said Cassidy. “I don’t know if he’ll play tomorrow since he’s not skating today, so we’ll see where he is moving forward after tomorrow. I’ll put him day-to-day for sure. It’s just something that’s not coming around as quick as we’d like, so we’ll give him some more time.”

Bruins head coach Bruce Cassidy indicated that Frank Vatrano would be the choice to again step in for Acciari on the fourth line after an up-and-down return to the lineup vs. Ottawa. Likewise, Anders Bjork was again recalled from Providence on an emergency basis and would also step into the Bruins lineup after an affective return stepping in for the suspended Brad Marchand.

Interesting to note, however, that Danton Heinen was the one getting the call on the top left wing in place of Marchand, and that meant he’ll probably get a look with Patrice Bergeron and David Pastrnak against Anaheim. One thing Cassidy did confirm is that B’s backup Anton Khudobin will start against his old Anaheim Ducks teammates on Tuesday night, and that Tuukka Rask is expected to get the next two outs on Thursday (Blues) and Saturday (Maple Leafs) night.
