Brad Marchand's amateur and minor league career
Marchand did not play college hockey in the United States, instead playing junior hockey in Canada before joining the Providence Bruins of the American Hockey League.
Marchand played two years for the Moncton Wildcats in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League (QMJHL), winning a championship during the 2005-06 season.
After being drafted by the Bruins, Marchand played two seasons for the Val-d'Or Foreurs and one season for his hometown Halifax Mooseheads, both in the QMJHL.
Marchand turned pro in the 2008-09 season and played 79 games for the P-Bruins, where he totaled 59 points (18 goals, 41 assists) in the regular season before tacking on seven goals and eight assists (15 points) in 16 postseason games.
Marchand began the 2009-10 season in Providence as well before earning a 20-game call-up with the parent club, debuting on Oct. 21, 2009. He joined Boston full-time for the 2010-11 Cup-winning campaign and hasn't looked back since.
