Arena: Turner ‘our most consistent player this year'

Matt Turner's efforts this year have not gone unnoticed.

Although the New England Revolution haven't gotten the results they've hoped for, Turner has been a bright spot. The 26-year-old goalkeeper is tied for sixth in MLS with 24 saves on the season.

Unfortunately, Turner's four saves on Wednesday night vs. NYCFC weren't enough to propel the Revs to victory as they fell 2-0. In an interview with NBC Sports Boston's Tom Giles, Revolution head coach Bruce Arena praised Turner while stressing the need for other players to step up.

"He's been our most consistent player this year, no question about it," Arena said of Turner. "We need to get other players to play more consistent game in and game out. We've had some very good performances, but not on a consistent basis like Matt has performed."

Another bright spot has been forward Gustavo Bou, who has three goals through 10 matches.

"I think Gustavo Bou has generally been pretty good for us so we'll look for Gustavo to continue to be dangerous in and around the goal. But we need other players to step up. Hopefully Sunday is the start of that."

The Revs will take on Chicago Fire FC on Sunday night at 7:30 p.m.
