Morning Skate: Rolling into the break talking Marchand

Here are all the links from around the hockey world, and what I’m reading, while giving two thumbs up to Three Billboards in Ebbing, Missouri. The acting and writing are both top-notch and it’s definitely not a movie that you can sense what’s coming next.

*Here’s the full two-hour podcast from this morning’s Hockey Show on 98.5 the Sports Hub where we talked a whole lot about Brad Marchand.

*It looks like the New York Rangers are going to blow things up with players like Rick Nash and Ryan McDonagh on the table as trade chips. Nash could be an interesting rental for a team like the Bruins, but let’s wait and see what their organization sets as a price for these players.

*Buffalo Sabres defenseman Zach Bogosian is going to have hip surgery and will miss the rest of a lost season for the Sabres.

*What has and has not happened to this point in what’s been a weird, wacky and wonderful half-season for the NHL.

*Could Nathan MacKinnon really be the Hart Trophy winner when it’s all said and done? We may start to see if he’s the real deal beginning this weekend at a showcase event like the NHL All-Star Game, but I’m not betting on any member of the Avalanche organization.

*For something completely different: How do we feel about this Captain Marvel outfit, and more important, are those green screen portions of the costume that they’re planning to do something funky within the post-effects portion of the moviemaking process? Hmmm.
