Lee Nyugen's late goal helped the New England Revolution (1-2-1) salvage their outing against the Portland Timbers (3-1-1) in a 1-1 draw Sunday at Providence Park.

In the 85th minute, Nyugen blasted a point-blank goal after Timbers goaltender Jake Gleeson failed to cleanly field a deflected shot from Teal Bunbury.

But the Revs played from behind for most of the game, as the Timbers' Diego Valeri scored a goal in the 12th minute. Valeri found the ball at his feet on a Revs' clearing header. The Portland midfielder shot the ball on a turning volley, and found the back of the net for a gorgeous goal. The Revs backs fought off constant pressure from Timbers striker Fanendo Adi in the minutes that followed.

Kei Kamara got a pair of chances in the box, but couldn't get the ball in the net on either opportunity. On the second, he struck a diving header just high and wide, and appealed for a penalty kick, as he clearly felt he'd been pushed from behind on the play.

For their next match, New England will host the Houston Dynamo on Saturday, April 8 at 2 p.m. at Gillette Stadium.
