We’ve seen this done in other sports to hilarious results (Robinson Cano in New York City for the Jimmy Fallon’s show comes to mind first and foremost). The Bruins pulled off the stunt last week with Max Talbot in his native Montreal. The Bruins forward went around interviewing Habs fans on the streets of Montreal, without identifying himself as a B’s player, or even as an NHL player in general.
The fourth-line grinder identified himself only as “Tim the Interviewer” and got some pretty good answers including that Talbot was “old, but good for the locker room because [the Bruins] lost Shawn Thornton” and another fan said Talbot “was a disgrace to the province [of Quebec]” for putting on the B’s sweater before knowing that’s exactly who was interviewing him.
The 31-year-old was the perfect Bruins player to give the interviews given his fun-loving personality and top notch sense of humor, particularly for somebody asking questions right in the middle of Habs enemy territory. The "glue guy" quality to Talbot's personality was one of several reasons behind the B's sending Jordan Caron to Colorado for him at the trade deadline last season.
