The Bruins participated in a rookie tournament last fall in Nashville and they’ll do the same again this fall in a different setting as part of the “Prospects Challenge” in Buffalo from Sept. 12-14. Rookies and prospects for the Bruins, Buffalo Sabres and New Jersey Devils will take part in a round-robin tournament with each team playing two games over the course of three days all scheduled for the First Niagara Center and the Sabres' adjacent HarborCenter practice facility.
The B’s prospect team is expected to include their trio of 2015 first-round picks, Jakub Zboril, Jake DeBrusk and Zach Senyshyn, as well as North Dakota goaltender Zane McIntyre, and a host of other prospects featured at development camp last month.
That also means that one of young prospect Jack Eichel’s first games wearing a Buffalo Sabres jersey will be against the Bruins uniform that he grew up rooting for as a hockey-loving kid from Chelmsford, Mass.
Tickets for the games are $10 each and can be purchased in person at the First Niagara Center Box Office, by phone at 1-888-223-6000 or online at www.sabres.com.
The full schedule for the tournament is as follows:
Sat., Sept. 12: Buffalo vs. New Jersey, 7 p.m., First Niagara Center
Sun., Sept. 13: Boston vs. New Jersey, 7 p.m., Harborcenter
Boston Bruins
Mon., Sept. 14: Buffalo vs. Boston, 7 p.m., First Niagara Center
