Beleskey: ‘I don't think has a concussion'

Brandon Carlo will miss at least Game 1 of the first round against the Senators with an upper-body injury. Not many details have been shared beyond that, but Matt Beleskey may have divulged some during an appearance on Toucher and Rich Tuesday morning.

Carlo left Saturday’s regular-season finale against the Capitals after smashing his head on the glass on a hit from Alexander Ovechkin. Though he skated off under his own power, the natural suspicion in such cases is that he may have suffered a head injury. The Bruins have only referred to it as an upper-body injury.

Asked point-blank whether that was the case, Beleskey said he didn’t believe that to be the case.

“No, I don’t think he has a concussion,” Beleskey said. “I wouldn’t be surprised if he practiced today. I’m not sure.”

When it was mentioned that Carlo wouldn’t play in Game 1, Beleskey said he didn’t know the team had told the media that. His answer as to how he didn’t hear about that was both self-effacing and hilarious.

“I wouldn’t say it’s been a great year to read articles for Matt Beleskey this year,” he said.

Beleskey managed just three goals ad eight points over 49 games in the regular season. He is in the second year of a five-year, $19 million contract signed in the 2015 offseason.
