FOXBORO -- Tom Brady was not present during the Patriots walkthrough on Tuesday morning.
According to Tom Pelissero of USA Today, Brady plans to attend Wednesday's federal court hearing in Manhattan. Judge Richard Berman told both Brady and NFL commissioner Roger Goodell that they were not required to attend the Aug. 19 court date for settlement talks between the NFL and NFLPA, but it's possible that both men could choose to attend of their own volition.
Brady missed last Tuesday's practice, one day in advance of settlement discussions between the NFL and NFLPA with Berman in New York.
Offensive lineman Josh Kline, defensive linemen Rufus Johnson, Joe Vellano and Trey Flowers, corner Darryl Roberts, tight end Jake Bequette and linebacker LJ Fort were also missing from Tuesday's session.
Players remaining on the physically unable to perform list -- Brandon LaFell, Ryan Wendell, Dane Fletcher and Chris Jones -- did not practice. Fletcher was doing some conditioning on a lower field, and Wendell was present but wearing shorts and a t-shirt.
Other players doing conditioning on the lower field included running back Travaris Cadet, receiver Aaron Dobson, tight end Scott Chandler, center Bryan Stork and offensive lineman Caylin Hauptmann, who has spent camp on the non-football injury list. Belichick, coaching assistant Mike Lombardi and trainers monitored those doing conditioning, potentially to gauge whether or not any of those players will travel to West Virginia for joint practices with the Saints later this week.
Receiver Julian Edelman stayed with the team for the majority of its walkthrough and then did some conditioning on his own.
Players wore helmets and jerseys but no shoulder pads. The team will leave for the Greenbrier resort in West Virginia later in the day on Tuesday.
