New England Patriots safety Patrick Chung was scheduled to appear in court on Wednesday at 8:30 a.m. ET. Now, it appears that court appearance will occur later than initially anticipated.
Chung has entered a not guilty plea to the felony possession of cocaine charge from June 25, the New Hampshire Supreme Court confirmed Monday to several media outlets.
Chung was indicted by a Belknap County (N.H.) grand jury on Aug. 8. The crime carries a potential prison term of 3 1/2 to seven years in New Hampshire.
After his not-guilty plea, Chung's court appearance will be moved to November.
Chung's charge became public last week when his name was reported along with other cited in the recent grand jury session by the Laconia Sun.
The Patriots safety returned to practice Sunday, although he had a wrap around his right arm. He will likely be allowed to play until his legal situation is fully resolved.
