FOXBORO -- When it was posted Wednesday that LeGarrette Blount, Alan Branch and Caylin Hauptmann landed on the non-football injury list -- the same day that the Patriots held their conditioning tests -- it didn't feel like a coincidence.
According to reports from the Boston Herald and Boston Globe, it wasn't.
The Globe reported on Thursday morning that Blount had failed his physical, while the Herald noted Branch had done the same. For the test, the Globe reported, players had to complete 20 50-yard sprints in under eight seconds each. Patriots quarterback Matt Flynn also landed on the team's NFI list on Monday.
