Top of the Morning: Pats earn No. 2 seed;C's smoked by Kings

Eric Frede has all the headlines and higlhights for your New Years Eve on CSNNE.com's SportsNet Central Update.

The Patriots ended 2012 on a high note, beating the Dolphins 28-0 in Week 17. That didn't happen before the Texans lost to the Colts, however, which allowed the Patriots to become the No. 2 seed entering the playoffs.

The Celtics, on the other hand, can't wait to say goodbye to 2012. They lost by 18-plus points for the third straight game -- and head back to New England on perhaps the lowest note of the season after losing to the Kings 118-96.
