Report: Celtics trade Aron Baynes to Suns

The Celtics traded big man Aron Baynes to the Suns during Thursday night's NBA Draft, per ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski.

Baynes was part of a deal that also sent the No. 24 pick, Virginia guard Ty Jerome, to Phoenix.

In return, Boston gets Milwaukee's 2020 first-round pick.

The rebuilding Suns are reportedly prepared to buy out Baynes, 32, and free him up to sign with a contender.

It was reported earlier on Thursday that Baynes was placed on the trading block as the C's looked to clear cap space. The 6-foot-10 Australian had exercised the $5.4 million player option on his 2019-20 contract with the Celtics just eight days ago.

The Celtics received picks 24 and 33 as compensation in a trade with the 76ers, who took Boston's No. 20 pick and selected Matisse Thybulle.
