BOSTON – Isaiah Thomas isn’t one to back down from a challenge, even if it comes from good friend Floyd Mayweather, who is the best pound-for-pound fighter in the world.
Now, boxing Mayweather would be one thing.
There are a lot of words that could be used to describe something like that.
We’ll use just two: bad idea.
But playing Mayweather in basketball?
In Episode 1 of SHOWTIME’s “All Access: Mayweather vs. Berto”, which airs tonight at 10:30, Mayweather takes a break from his training in preparation for his Sept. 12 fight against Andre Berto to play basketball with among others, Thomas, the Celtics' guard.
Not surprisingly, the same bravado that has helped Mayweather ascend to the top of the boxing world is present when he talks basketball, too.
Mayweather looks into the camera and says that Thomas is “a boy I helped get to the NBA.”
The camera immediately pans on to Thomas whose look at hearing this revelation was precious.
