Horford (knee) out tonight vs. Nets

BOSTON – Al Horford was able to play through aggravating his left knee in the Celtics' 91-84 win against Minnesota, but the veteran big man was a no-go tonight for the Celtics in  Brooklyn.

MORE CELTICS:

Horford gave it a go before the game, but in conjunction with the medical staff, it was determined that he would not play tonight.

Celtics coach Brad Stevens said Aron Baynes would get the start in place of Horford.

Horford is fourth on the team in scoring with 13.4 points per game to go with a team-leading 7.8 rebounds and 5.3 assists per game while shooting 42.2 percent from 3-point range which ranks among the league leaders among centers this season.

One of the unspoken strengths of Horford is his ability to keep the players focused on the task at hand, which will be important tonight if the Celtics (32-10) intend on extending their winning streak to six in a row.

“If our minds wander, we’ll get our butts kicked,” Stevens said.
