Gasper: Is the Celtics rebuilding plan on schedule?

The Boston Celtics are getting ready for their third year of the rebuilding process after parting with Paul Pierce and Kevin Garnett.

Chris Gasper of the Boston Globe thinks the rebuild is going according to plan under Brad Stevens.

"I don't think they're behind schedule. I think the expectations may be way outsized," said Gasper. "We had Wyc [Grousbeck] last year talking about fireworks, Kevin Love was flirting and then they make the playoffs this year. When the new Big Three were broken up I thick we all knew this was going to take four or five years to get back. That's the way it is in the NBA.

Gasper does point out that there is a big difference between 2015 and the Celtics' last rebuild.

"They're still trying to figure out who 'the man' is going to be that they build the next championship team around," he said. "This is the biggest problem for the Celtics and Danny Ainge. People forget that they already had their guy when they did it the last time. When they brought in KG they had Paul Pierce."
