Ainge: Rozier made great strides in Summer League

With Summer League play long over, the Celtics are a step closer to the regular season, meaning they're also a step closer to the career debuts of Terry Rozier, R.J. Hunter and Jordan Mickey.

So far, Celtics President of Basketball Operations Danny Ainge likes what he sees from the three rookies.

Of course, Marcus Smart was the Celtics' best player in Summer League, but Rozier, Hunter and Mickey all improved once they got going.

"Our rookies, it took a little bit of time," Ainge said. "R.J. took a couple of games to get acclimated but once he did, he played really well. You can see his passing ability, playmaking ability, his shooting and defense got better as Summer League went along. Jordan started out a bit rusty but finished with a strong Summer League.

"Terry will fit in really well with our backcourt and the toughness our guys have and their personality. I thought he made great strides in the pick and roll, which is something he hasn't done a lot of in college."
