NASHVILLE -- The manager's office at Fenway Park has featured a revolving door in recent years, with John Farrell serving as the third manager in the last three seasons.
It's no different at Pawtucket, the organization's Triple A affiliate. Since 2009, the PawSox have had three different managers -- Ron Johnson, Torey Lovullo and Arnie Beyeler.
With Beyeler promoted to the major league coaching staff last month, the Pawsox will have their fourth manager in five seasons when the International League season begins.
First, however, the Red Sox have to hire that new manager.
"We're considering a couple of people internally," said GM Ben Cherington, "and also perhaps a couple of external candidates, but we haven't interviewed anybody yet. We're working on it."
If the Sox were to promote from within, they might look at Portland manager Kevin Boles, who has managed the last four seasons in the Red Sox' organization -- two years at Single A Greenville, one season at High A Salem and last year in Portland.
