Merloni: Jays gave up equivalent of Rodriguez for Price

The Toronto Blue Jays acquired All-Star left-hander David Price from the Detroit Tigers on Thursday.

But with the Blue Jays seven games out of the A.L. East and two games out of the Wild Card, Lou Merloni questions Toronto's decision to give up their best pitching prospect for what will likely turn into a rental.

"What they gave up for two months of David Price to possibly pitch in a one-game play-in for the Wild Card is the equivalent of Eddie Rodriguez," said Merloni. "He's their number one pitching prospect, Daniel Norris, 18th prospect in all of baseball."
