Benintendi ‘thankful' to be part of Red Sox organization

The Lowell Spinners are currently enjoying the company of Boston Red Sox 2015 first round pick Andrew Benintendi.

The 21-year-old outfielder is currently hitting .244 with four home runs and seven RBI with Triple A, but while some hope to see Benintendi develop into a power hitter, he likes to keep things simple at the plate.

"I like to consider myself a gap to gap hitter who can sometimes hit some home runs. I'm just trying to square up the ball and hit it hard every time."

Benintendi coincidently looked up to Red Sox second baseman Dustin Pedroia.

"Obviously I'm not the biggest guy and neither is he. Just the way he competes and the way he attacks the ball, it's pretty motivating for me."
