FOXBORO -- Judge Richard Berman appeared to express some disappointment that the NFL and the NFLPA weren't able to agree to a settlement as it related to the four-game suspension issued to Patriots quarterback Tom Brady. But it seems as though the two sides were never really that close.
According to Gary Myers of the New York Daily News, the NFL was only willing to reduce the four-game ban to three games. And that only would have happened if Brady had admitted to some guilt in the Deflategate case.
As far as Brady was concerned, he never would have signed a document admitting to anything, according to Myers. Brady was, however, willing to take a fine for not cooperating fully in the Deflategate investigation.
With no settlement, the decision now falls to Berman. He said on Monday morning that he would have a ruling by Tuesday or Wednesday.
