Most NFL players agree with Tom Brady's point of view that the Deflategate punishment handed down by Roger Goodell was too harsh.
According to a poll conducted by ESPN, the majority of players believe that the Patriots illegally deflated footballs, but they also believe that Brady's four-game suspension was an extreme punishment.
Perhaps the most telling result of the poll, and least surprising, is that players generally believe that Goodell shouldn't be able to act as judge, jury and executioner when it comes to discipline in the NFL. Though if players want that to change, they'll have to fight for an alteration to the collective bargaining agreement the next time the two sides get to the negotiating table.
Here are some of the numbers to take away from the poll:
* 72 percent of players believe the Patriots deflated footballs illegally
* 84 percent of players don't care that the Patriots deflated footballs
* 58 percent of players said they don't consider the Patriots cheaters
* 19 percent of players thought a four-game suspension was appropriate
* 3 percent of players wanted Brady to be suspended for more than four games
* 85 percent of players think that the Patriots will still make the playoffs even if Brady has to sit for four games
* 88 percent of players said player discipline should not be decided by Goodell
