Westbrook's 5-year/$205M extension with OKC gives him richest deal in NBA history

Russell Westbrook will remain with the Oklahoma City Thunder after agreeing to a five-year, $205 million extension that gives him the largest total contract in NBA history - $233 million for six years -  Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN reported.

Westbrook's extension begins with the 2018-19 season. Westbrook, who turns 29 Nov. 12, was the NBA MVP last season when he averaged a triple-double of 31.6 points, 10.7 rebounds and 10.4 assists. The Thunder lost in the first round of the playoffs to the Houston Rockets in five games.

The Thunder added Paul George and Carmelo Anthony in trades this offseason. Anthony was acquired from the Knicks last week. Westbook's new deal could help convince George, eligible for free agency after the season, to stay in OKC as well.
