Terry Rozier won’t have to wait long for a chance to play his old team.
The Charlotte Hornets open their exhibition slate by visiting the Boston Celtics on Oct. 6 at TD Garden. The Celtics and Hornets executed a sign-and-trade this summer that delivered Kemba Walker to Boston on a max deal, while Rozier landed in Charlotte on a three-year, $58 million pact.
The Celtics haven’t released their full preseason slate yet but are also scheduled to visit the Orlando Magic on Oct. 11. Boston has typically played a four-game preseason slate in recent seasons.
One team the Celtics won’t see during the exhibition season: the Brooklyn Nets, who already announced a four-game preseason slate last month that features two games in China against the Los Angeles Lakers. Kyrie Irving’s return to Boston likely will wait until the regular season.
The Celtics previously played a preseason schedule heavy with Atlantic Division rivals, but last year’s slate featured just home-and-homes against the Cavaliers and Hornets. In announcing its 2019 preseason schedule, Charlotte did not list a visit from Boston this year.
