Sox score nine runs in ninth-inning comeback win

PORT CHARLOTTE, Fla. -- It was quite a comeback -- even if it came against a bunch of Tampa Bay Rays ticketed for the lower minors.

The Red Sox trailed 8-2 entering the top of the ninth inning Tuesday, but managed to push across nine runs to steal an 11-8 decision.

When John Farrell was jokingly asked to rank the victory among his most memorable as a manager, he chuckled.

"I don't how it stacks up," said a smiling Farrell. "It's a spring training game and we were able to string a bunch of hits together."

Did they ever. The first nine Red Sox hitters reached base and in all, 15 Red Sox batters went to the plate.

Rusney Castillo had two singles in the ninth, while Blake Swihart had a triple, single and three RBI.
