HOUSTON -- Veterans Shalrie Joseph and Matt Reis made it clear after last Saturdays 2-1 loss at home to Real Salt Lake: immaturity is the New England Revolutions biggest issue.
So with nothing but pride at stake in Sundays game at Houston, the Revs younger playersand theres a lot of them -- can get to working on their leadership and accountability.
Sundays match against the Dynamo marks New Englands third-to-last game of the season; a season that will see no playoffs for the Revolution for the first time since 2001. And Sunday presents a great opportunity for the Revs to begin improving for next season.
The Dynamo arent much better than the Revs, if theyre even better at all. Houston
enters Sundays game as the seventh-place team in the Western Conference (out of eight) with 27 points. Thats only one point better than New England, which enters the match as the seventh-place team in the Eastern Conference (out of eight) with 26 points.
If the rest of the season is all about pride, the Revs hope to use Sunday as an opportunity to snap a five-game winless skid. In fact, the Revs only have one win in their last 10 matches. But there is one bit of good news; New England is 1-0 against Houston this season. So the Revolution have that going for them, at least.
After Sunday, the last two games on New Englands schedule are against the Kansas City Wizards at Gillette Stadium next Saturday, followed by the season-finale on Oct. 21 in New York against the Red Bulls.
