Bruins sign prolific QMJHL scorer Samuel Asselin to entry-level contract

As the Bruins enter a win-or-go-home Game 6 in their Stanley Cup Final series against the Blues, they have added a prolific goal scorer from the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League.

Samuel Asselin, 20, who scored 48 goals in 68 games this season for the Halifax Mooseheads, signed an entry-level contract with Boston and will seemingly begin his career with the Providence Bruins in the AHL.

The Canadiens were reportedly interested in the young center, so not only do the Bruins add a talented scorer, but they keep him away from a hated rival.

The Bruins have had success with youngsters from the QMJHL, as Brad Marchand (four seasons) and Patrice Bergeron (one season) spent time as amateurs there.
