Neumeier: Could the Sox have made a deal to get Hamels?

With the trade deadline having come and gone last week, the question still lingers with The Baseball Show crew.

Could the Red Sox have made a move to get Phillies pitcher Cole Hamels, who was ultimately traded to the Texas Rangers. It's tough to tell, considering the Re dSox never got very far at all.

"I was told the night Hamels went to Texas, that the Red Sox sense in dealing with the Phillies or attempting to deal with the Phillies is Hamels having Red Sox on his no-trade list made it difficult for the Red Sox to get any traction with Philadelphia," Sean McAdam said. "That makes sense to a point. To me, the biggest indictment of that being the reason the Red Sox didn’t get a deal done is the Giants were also on his no-trade list and they were in it to the end trying to make an offer better than Texas.

"If they were willing to talk to team like San Francisco on Hamels list, why weren't they willing to negotiate with the Red Sox?"
