With the departure of Larry Lucchino, Boston Red Sox general manager Ben Cherington knows there will be changes to baseball ops.
But with the possibility of a new boss coming in, should Cherington feel safe?
"I don't think it should be secure at all," said Lou Merloni on SportsNet Central. "It's just a reality of sports. You've got to taker the emotion out of it. You're the general manager and your team has a payroll in the top five - top three this year - in baseball and you finish in last place the last two years? How secure should your job be? I think that's something this team's going to have to look at this offseson."
