McAdam: Would Torre be good fit for new Sox president of ops?

With the news that Larry Lucchino is stepping down from his position as Red Sox president of operations and CEO, Sam Kennedy will take over the role of president of operations while the CEO position will be vacant.

On The Baseball Show, Sean McAdam proposes a different candidate, former Yankees coach Joe Torre, who currently works for Major League Baseball. It'd be an interesting marriage, but McAdam cited the trend of veteran advisors taking on a final challenge, much like Tony LaRussa has done with the Arizona Diamondbacks.

"I should preface this by saying this is not any name I’m hearing yet and to be clear we don’t know for certain there will be a president  of baseball operations named," McAdam said. "If you look around at a trend in the game, with exception of Theo Epstein in Chicago, obviously a relatively young man in nearly his 40s now, we’re looking at more veteran advisors. How about Joe Torre? former Yankees manager working for MLB and apparently enjoying his role there. Maybe he wants one more challenge?"
