Eduardo Rodriguez sharp in rehab again

Share

For the second straight rehab outing, Eduardo Rodriguez took a step closer to returning.

The left-hander allowed two hits, both singles, with two walks and six strikeouts over four innings in his second outing with the Double-A Portland Sea Dogs since he was injured on July 14.

Out of his 76 pitches on Monday, Rodriguez tossed 47 of them for strikes.

If Rodriguez feels comfortable to return, he would likely replace the injured Chris Sale in the rotation for the time being after the Sox ace went to the disabled list for the second time in a month.

In the same outing, rehabbing catcher Christian Vazquez played five innings behind the dish and went 1-for-2 with 3 RBI.
