Patriots-Browns injury report: Brissett out, Edelman and Blount questionable

FOXBORO -- It seems as though Jimmy Garoppolo is good to go.

The Patriots have ruled out rookie quarterback Jacoby Brissett for Sunday's game with the Browns, leaving Garoppolo (who was listed as questionable with a shoulder injury) as the lone quarterback behind Tom Brady.

Brissett reportedly had thumb surgery Friday and will be placed on injured reserve. The IR designation wll free up a roster spot, leaving the Patriots with 51 players on their active roster. Brady and Rob Ninkovich, both of whom are coming off of four-game suspensions and are currently on the exempt list, can now be activated prior to Sunday.

Running back Brandon Bolden and linebacker Shea McClellin have also been ruled out as they continue to deal with knee and head injuries, respectively. Defensive tackle Vincent Valentine has not been ruled out for New England's game with Cleveland despite the fact that he has not practiced this week.

Rob Gronknowski, Julian Edelman and LeGarrette Blount have all been listed as questionable, as have offensive linemen Marcus Cannon and Joe Thuney. Cannon missed Thursday's practice but was back on the field Friday.
