The New England Patriots are embracing the underdog role entering Sunday's AFC Championship Game matchup with the Kansas City Chiefs at Arrowhead Stadium.
The Chiefs are the AFC's No. 1 seed with the highest-scoring offense in the NFL and a quarterback in Patrick Mahomes who many people believe is the NFL MVP. Oddsmakers have pegged the Patriots as 3-point underdogs, making this game the first for Tom Brady as an underdog in the playoffs since the 2013 AFC title game.
The Patriots certainly are using all of this as motivation for Sunday's showdown, and wide receiver Julian Edelman posted a hype video on Twitter on Wednesday with a simple message for the critics/haters: Bet against us.
Multiple Patriots players, including Tom Brady and Devin McCourty, have acknowledged they've seen the criticism hurled their way this season. No team has won a conference championship game on the road since 2012, but it wouldn't be surprising if the Patriots end that trend Sunday given how public the team has been with their nobody-believes-in-us type attitude this week.
