Why Celtics value proper nutrition off the court

Kemba Walker loves cheeseburgers, but favorite food? Pizza. Gordon Hayward can't get enough of chicken fingers and french fries.

But the Celtics stars know they can't be professional athletes and subsist on junk food.

Luckily the Celtics organization has what Hayward termed a "world-class facility" which provides individualized meals for the players.

"Ultimately, what we want to try to do is create an educational opportunity here to say this is how we can help from a mind and body standpoint because we've gotta be able to eat well, sleep well," said Celtics coach Brad Stevens in a recent exclusive interview with NBC Sports Boston.

The organizational emphasis on proper nutrition is something that Walker values.

"I was very fortunate to learn early about taking care of my body and eating the right food. You can tell a lot of teams are really starting to enforce that within their organization," Walker said. "When you feed your body the right things, it just makes you feel so good. It gets you through your days a lot easier."
