STAR OF THE GAME: Blake Swihart
Swihart had his first multi-homer game, hitting a three-run bomb in the first before topping things off with a two-run shot in the eighth, giving him three homers in his last four games.
HONORABLE MENTION: Rick Porcello
Porcello almost coughed up a big first-inning lead, then settled down to toss seven shutout innings and take the Red Sox through eight innings with a season-high 115 pitches.
GOAT OF THE GAME: Michael Pineda
With the Yankees' magic number for a playoff spot at just two, Pineda let this one get away from him in the first inning, spotting the Sox a 6-0 lead before the Yankees came to the plate.
TURNING POINT: The solo homer in the fifth by Betts seemed to give the Red Sox a little breathing room after Porcello handed them four runs in the first.
BY THE NUMBERS: The Red Sox' current five-game winning streak is the longest of the season. Until Tuesday night, they were the only A.L. team that hadn't won at least five games in a row this season.
