The Boston Red Sox made a move to bolster their infield depth on Monday.

The club announced it claimed utility infielder Yu Chang off waivers from the Tampa Bay Rays. As a corresponding move, outfielder Jaylin Davis was designated for assignment.

Chang, 27, spent time with the Rays, Pittsburgh Pirates and Cleveland Guardians this season. In 58 games between the three clubs, he slashed .236/.278/.349 with four homers and 14 RBI.

A versatile defender, Chang will come in handy for the Red Sox over the final month of the season. He has played every infield position in 2022, primarily second base (39 games).

Davis, 28, slashed .333/.407/.375 in 12 games with Boston this year.
