The 2020 MLS season didn't end how Bruce Arena and the New England Revolution had hoped, but there's plenty to be optimistic about heading into the offseason.
The eighth-seeded Revs were defeated by the third-seeded Columbus Crew SC in Sunday's Eastern Conference Final, 1-0. Despite the loss, it was a spectacular run for a New England team that beat the Montreal Impact, the top-seeded Philadelphia Union, and Orlando City SC in the playoffs.
Following the game, Revolution head coach Bruce Arena spoke about how his team will build off its postseason success.

“We made progress last year. We made progress this year. I think we want to continue that," Arena said. "In the offseason, we’re looking to bring in two or three players that can solidify our first 11. We got to get a little bit better there. Technically, we’re not as good as we need to be. We need to bring in a few better players to help us in the attacking end of the field. And we can use help in other positions. We’ll do our best to try to make our roster a little bit better.”
The Revs weren't fully healthy until the playoffs, which unsurprisingly is when they were at their best with star midfielder Carles Gil back in the fold. Assuming the club is at full strength to start the 2021 campaign off, there's no reason to believe they can't duplicate their success and make another run for an MLS title.
Columbus will face the winner of Monday night's Seattle-Minnesota matchup in the MLS Cup.
