Here are the links from around the hockey world, and what I’m reading while wishing that David Ortiz had a little more of a chance to shine in his final playoff series for the Red Sox.

-- Phil Kessel and the Pittsburgh Penguins got quite the Stanley Cup ring bling, with over 300 diamonds in the championship jewelry.

-- Randy Carlyle is looking to be a barrel of laughs and mirth in his second go-round with the Anaheim Ducks. I wonder how that’s going to work.

-- The Blackhawks top lines are starting to look familiar again as Chicago readies for the start of the season.

---USA Today has come out with the 50 most important people in the NHL ahead of the 2016-17 season.

-- Dan Boyle chats with Pierre Lebrun about his life after the NHL, and his suggestions to make the game a better, safer one for all players.

-- The Calgary Flames are looking forward to Johnny Gaudreau reporting for duty now that he’s signed his long-term deal to stay there.

-- Old friend Gregory Campbell has been placed on waivers by the Blue Jackets as they hone in on their NHL roster.

-- The New York Post with an interesting story on the top female pro hockey players getting paid just $26,000 in salary. It's too bad, but it's also a byproduct of the women’s game not yet building into the kind of business that can pay more. It’s incumbent upon more people to support women’s hockey with their wallets if it's to become a viable profession for very worthy players who also need to make a living.

-- For something completely different: This documentary on the “Fantastic Four movie that never was” sounds pretty interesting.
