Tuesday, April 18: Puck to face ends Werenski's season

Share

Here are all the links from around the hockey world, and what I’m reading, while shaking my head at Tim Peel once again making a spectacle of himself.

*Zach Werenski's season is over due to the facial fractures suffered from a puck to the face vs. the Penguins. So much respect to the kid for coming back in that game before he was shut down when he couldn’t see out of the eye anymore due to the swelling.

*In the interest of self-promotion, here is my hit with Toucher and Rich prior to Game 3 where the injuries are catching up to the Black and Gold.

*The hiring of Ken Hitchcock as head coach of the Dallas Stars will be a great thing for star defenseman John Klingberg.

*Some knucklehead Bruins fans were throwing trash on the ice and trying to snatch sticks right out of Senators players’ hands after Game 3 was over last night. Total and complete morons giving Boston a bad name.

*On the other end of the spectrum, great story with Denna Laing and Bobby Carpenter teaming to complete the Boston Marathon on Monday. Laing is an inspiration in every sense of the word.

*Dan Shaughnessy writes that the Bruins didn’t hold up their end of the bargain in Game 3, and it’s too bad given the way things ended. It could have been a real feel-good script for a Marathon Monday in Boston from a local sports perspective.

*William Nylander was basically raised by the Washington Capitals when his dad was a player there, and now he’s trying to end their season. Things really do come full circle.
