Here are all the links from around the hockey world, and what I’m reading while giving a big stick salute to the Washington Capitals for truly earning the first Stanley Cup championship in franchise history.
-- FOH (Friend of Haggs) Chris Johnston has the details behind Alex Ovechkin finally overcoming that final hurdle and cementing his legacy as one of the all-time greats with his Stanley Cup win.
-- Speaking of Ovechkin, the Capitals blogs have been busy collecting all of the GIFs of Ovie raising the Cup last night.
-- If you’d rather see video of the Washington Capitals celebrating as a team, here they are singing “We Are the Champions” after the win.
-- Back in Washington DC, long-suffering Capitals fans are also celebrating today in a Cup victory that was a long time coming.
-- Moving on from the Stanley Cup Final, it looks like the Edmonton Oilers are going to explore moving Milan Lucic. Would the Bruins ever consider a return of Looch to Boston? It would be interesting if the Oilers picked up half his salary and Lucic settled into more of a third line, big-checking role with the Black and Gold. But it also doesn’t seem to fit where the Bruins are headed in terms of youth, speed and lower-priced items on the roster.
-- For something completely different: What the heck is going on with Jim Carrey here?
