A number of players from the 2018 New England Patriots were on hand at the Boston Red Sox's home opener Tuesday, both to honor the 2018 World Series champions and be honored after winning Super Bowl LIII.
But one Patriot was noticably absent from the pomp and circumstance: Patriots quarterback Tom Brady.
Brady has appeared at the ceremony in past years, but the Pats QB, head coach Bill Belichick, and owner Robert Kraft did not make an appearance Tuesday.
While Kraft's absence probably does not require an explanation, Brady's decision not to attend is a bit more curious.
Perhaps Brady is sticking with what he did in the NFL offseason last year, when he stayed away for much of the offseason, missing some Patriots team activities to spend time with family.
Regardless, Brady released a statement through his newfound medium of Twitter on Tuesday, congratulating the Red Sox, and citing the fact he "couldn't make it."
It appears TB12 isn't retiring from Twitter, after all.
