Titans OT Lewan: Report of Patriots turmoil looks like ‘media BS'

Everybody's commenting on ESPN's Patriots report from late last week. Bill Belichick, Tom Brady and Robert Kraft have all promptly shot down many aspects of the piece that detailed the allegedly-souring relationships between them. So did Taylor Lewan.

Wait, who?

Lewan, the Titans left tackle, joined the Rich Eisen Show on Monday and was asked about the story that has the football world talking.

"I feel like the Patriots for so long have been so great with the owner, the coaching staff, the quarterback, everybody's gotten along so well," he said. "I'm going to sit here and say this is media BS. This is people watching the perfect storm of individuals together on this dynasty, and people want to throw a wrench in it.

"I'm not biting that there's actually some turmoil going on over there. Who knows? I might be totally wrong. I might be 100 percent right. I don't think there's as much going on there as people say there is."

To Lewan's point, it might be hard to tell what's happening with the Patriots behind the scenes based on their play. They're the No. 1 seed in the AFC. They finished the regular season 13-3. And they're now two-touchdown favorites to beat Tennessee in the Divisional Round.

Lewan knows many won't give his club a shot to advance to the AFC title game.

"I think every single person in the world is probably counting us out in this one," he said. "The Patriots have consistently gone to Super Bowls, consistently gone to the AFC Championship, consistently have won Super Bowls with the coaching staff they have there, with the quarterback they have there.

"I'm not mad at them, but to be honest there's that old cliche line of 'any given Sunday,' and I'm just gonna flip it and call it 'any given Saturday.' We have a huge opportunity here to make a huge statement. We have a lot of talent on this team, and I'll be the first one to admit that we've underachieved this year. But we've gotten to the dance. That's all that really matters so going forward, going to Foxboro, what an awesome opportunity."
