Say this for Rex Ryan: At least he's honest.
The Bills coach knows it will take a near-miracle for his team to win the AFC East.
"I mean, it’s the halfway point, but I think in the division, it’s unrealistic to think you’re going to win your division when you just got beat by . . . How many games are they up by? Three? Something like that? I don’t see that changing. I just told you the truth, but I never said it was going to ruin our season. I thought within winning the division, you’re pretty much shot if you really think we can really run the table and still win it. I don’t think so."
PATRIOTS 41, BILLS 25:
- Belichick on Gronkowski's record-setting 69th TD: 'Love to see those touchdowns'
- McCourty: Pretty sad if pre-game scuffle with Patriots is highlight of Bills’ season
- Bills Mafia outdoes itself: Fans throw a 'marital aid' on the field
- Troy Brown: Max Kellerman is the biggest Tom Brady hater in the world
Ryan was sure to point out he wasn't allowing his team to fold up its tent on the season. But at this point, there's little use in denying that the Patriots will win the AFC East for the eighth straight year and for the 14th time in the last 16 seasons.
At this point the Bills are playing for a Wild Card spot.
New England Patriots
"That team is three games up on us and I think at the halfway point they’ve lost one game," he said. "And No. 12 is back, so yeah, I don’t see [winning the division] happening. I hope I'm wrong.”
“As bad as you want to be negative-wise, I get it,” Ryan added. I get it. We’re halfway through the season, but we’ll see. We have a lot of football left to be played. I believe in this team maybe more so than others.”
