Patriots' tweet amid flurry of reported moves is brilliant

What got into the New England Patriots on Monday?

The NFL's legal tampering window opened at 12 p.m. ET, and within 90 minutes, the Patriots reportedly had agreed to contracts with two quality free agents in tight end Jonnu Smith and defensive tackle Davon Godchaux.

It sounds like Bill Belichick is wheeling and dealing with the Patriots' ample cap space -- or maybe there's another captain driving the ship.

Shortly after news of Smith and Godchaux's deals surfaced, the team posted the following on Twitter:

That's a quality tweet.

For context, that's a photo of Bill Belichick's dog, Nike, taken during the 2020 NFL Draft. The Patriots head coach did his draft business remotely from his summer home in Nantucket, and while other coaches and general managers brought family members into their at-home "war rooms," Belichick (and his girlfriend, Linda Holliday) decided to troll viewers by setting his dog up in front of his laptop.

It appears Belichick and Nike are hard at work again, as New England reportedly landed Pro Bowl pass rusher Matthew Judon shortly after the team's tweet.

Suppose you could say Belichick's motto in 2021 free agency is, "Just Do It."
