Patriots reportedly will add ex-Jets assistant Mick Lombardi to staff

After a week of post-Super Bowl departures from the Patriots coaching staff - Brian Flores, Chad O'Shea and Brendan Daly among others - Bill Belichick is reportedly adding a familiar name to his staff, according to ESPN's Mike Reiss.

Mick Lombardi, the son of former Patriots staffer, Belichick confidant and ex-Raiders and Browns GM Michael Lombardi, has been the assistant quarterbacks coach for the Jets since 2017 and, like his father, also has experience working for the Patriots.

Jerry Schuplinski held the assistant QB coach title with the Patriots and he has joined Flores' staff with the Dolphins to work under O'Shea, another ex-Pats assistant who joined Flores as Miami's offensive coordinator.

Patriots offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels also serves as New England's QB coach. It wouldn't be surprising to see Lombardi fill the assistant QB coach role under McDaniels.
