Ticket resellers are not too happy with this year's Super Bowl matchup. According to a Sports Illustrated story by Robert Klemko, the weaker Rams fan base and the Patriots' fourth Super Bowl appearance in five years has created, "middling demand and reasonable ticket prices."
Klemko talked to a prominent ticket reseller Michael Lipman, who claimed low fan interest from the teams involved is going to make it difficult for resellers to make as much profit as usual.
This is almost the worst possible combination of teams. There's no fan base in L.A. Though there is a 'Tom Brady's last hurrah' situation that is attracting a number of people. But other than that, there's no draw.
The location of the Super Bowl isn't the best either. Atlanta is on the other side of country for Rams fans, while the Boston area is over 1,000 miles away.
According to Lipman, the dream scenario for resellers would have been a Chiefs-Cowboys Super Bowl, while the worst would have been Rams-Colts.
However, this hasn't stopped one fan from spending over $200,000 on 13 seats together near the Patriots' sideline.
