New England Patriots wide receiver Julian Edelman moved up the all-time NFL playoff receptions leaderboard Sunday, and now only has San Francisco 49ers legend Jerry Rice ahead of him.
Edelman's fifth catch in Sunday's AFC Divisional Round matchup versus the Los Angeles Chargers at Gillette Stadium vaulted him into second place on the career playoff receptions list. He climbed ahead of Indianapolis Colts legend Reggie Wayne with 94 receptions. The reception that moved Edelman in front of Wayne came in the second quarter.
Edelman has played in 16 career playoff games, including Sunday's Patriots vs. Chargers showdown. He also moved into 10th place on the all-time playoff receiving yards list, passing Art Monk.
Rice is the all-time record holder with 151 playoff receptions, and that mark, like many of Rice's other milestones, likely will never be broken.
