NFL Rumors: N'Keal Harry expected to practice for Patriots this week

The New England Patriots might get an internal boost at wide receiver this week.

Rookie wideout N'Keal Harry, who's currently on short-term injured reserve, is expected to return to practice this week, NFL Media's Ian Rapoport reported Monday.

By NFL rule, Harry can't return to game action until after Week 8. But the 21-year-old is eligible to practice any time after Week 6, and it appears the Patriots are wasting no time getting him back in the fold.

Harry came to New England with plenty of hype as the Patriots' first wide receiver drafted in the first round since Terry Glenn in 1999. But a nagging ankle injury limited him to just one preseason game this summer.

The Patriots are hopeful Harry still can contribute this season, though, and head coach Bill Belichick said Monday the Arizona State product has been at the team's facility taking "mental reps" during his rehab.
