BUFFALO -- If a tree falls in the forest and no one is there to hear, does it make a sound?
Don’t know. But when a sex toy bounces onto the field during play in front of a sold-out stadium and millions of eyeballs, it causes a stir. And, inevitably, questions.

Was the throwing pre-planned or a spontaneous reaction to the Patriots once again knocking on the Bills’ end-zone door?
Given the league’s clear-bag policy, was there smuggling involved or did it just glide right through? Is this the start of a Buffalo tradition, like the octopus being thrown on the ice at Red Wings games or home-run balls being thrown back at Wrigley Field?
Hard to tell.
Chris Hogan (ahem) was the Patriot involved in the play with 3:38 left in the third and New England running a quick throw out near the left sideline. Asked if he noticed the foreign object, Hogan said, “I think I did, out of the corner of my eye, but I wasn’t really focused on that.”
New England Patriots
Tom Brady thought a flag was thrown on the play, according to running back LeGarrette Blount. "I said, 'No, that’s a dildo!' " Blount related. "They got that thing kicked off the field quick. Nobody was touching that. You don’t know where that’s been."
A locker over, running back James White sat slack-jawed. He had no idea.
Neither did wide receiver Julian Edelman. I asked him for his reaction. "What are you talking about?" was the reply.
I showed him the illegal and inappropriate GIF.
"Bills Mafia," he said. "Doing it up big."
