Ben Watson was devastated when the New England Patriots released him early last week.
It's safe to say he's in a better mood this week.
The Patriots officially re-signed Watson on Tuesday, as the veteran tight end returned to practice after a week in free agency.
The following morning, Watson used Twitter to express gratitude toward those who stuck with him following his release.
It's been a roller-coaster season already for the 38-year-old, who missed the first four games of the season while serving a suspension for violating the NFL's substance abuse policy.
Watson didn't travel with New England for its Week 5 game in Washington and was released the following day.
He's healthy and eligible to play, though, and considering the Patriots' current depth at tight end -- Ryan Izzo and the recently-signed Eric Tomlinson are the only other active tight ends following Matt LaCosse's injury -- Watson has the chance to make an impact starting Monday night against the New York Jets.
